The Memory – What is Memory?

What is Memory?

We start life with very few memories. Most of these memories trigger instinctive responses for survival when we are born. Our first meal is essential. Therefore we recognize the smell of the mother's breast. Because this is the first memory we are using, that memory also emphasizes why our olfactory sense is the strongest and most acute of our five senses.

Amazingly, your brain memory recognizes such subtle things that many events go unnoticed until your attention is brought to them. An olfactory memory test is for you to think of how your origin smells. Everyone recognizes their approximate relationship to home based on odor.

Flex Your Memory Power

Think back in your long term memory of how the soil, the loam, your surroundings smelled when you were very young. They loam of the soil contains the elements, minerals, and a plethora of chemicals. But it also contains bacteria and microorganisms unique in type and concentration. These provide a perfume that cannot be exactly duplicated anywhere else. This is your olfactory relationship to what you know as home.

A Memory Game

This is a simple game we all have played. But as an easy memory check, it works well. Put a blindfold over your eyes. Have someone bring various objects (you may want to start with fruits and vegetables) and have them close enough to your nose that you can smell them. Then you say what you think it is. When you start at this, you may be amazed how many you get wrong.

Types of memory

There are many types of memory. Here is a list of some of them:

Conscious memory also associated with Short term memory

Subconscious memory also associated with Long term memory

Instinctive memory survival and automatic reaction

Autonomic memory – the memory that your brain tells your diaphragm to move so that you continue to breathe.

Short term memory These are memories that we accrue in a short amount of time. Only with much effort, is this information remembered over a long period. At the memory learned point, it has been transferred to the long term memory.

Long term memory These are memories that have been stored for later use. After considerable use of short term memory, those memories will be placed into the long term memory. If you have underlying beliefs that create a barrier to your success, those memories would be in the long term memory, but not necessarily accessible.

So now you are just a little bit wiser. You know a little more about why taking steps to improve the memory is important for you.

Availing of Background Check Services

From an employer’s standpoint, a background check service has become a standard operating procedure before hiring new employees. This is to ensure that the applicant has no history of deviant behavior, whether it is from a previous place of employment, or whether they had encountered any serious trouble with the law. Another common scenario where a background check is performed is before marriage. As with employment, it is necessary to check a person’s history before committing to this serious step in a relationship. backround check services are available because private individuals and employers are not always privy to other people’s personal records. Or it may simply be because the time, resources, and means of performing a check are inadequate.

As with any service available in the market, a background check covers certain parameters and details. For business owners who wish to have peace of mind regarding the employees in their workforce; scholastic records and past employment records hold great interest. Going hand in hand with this is a person’s criminal record. It follows that a bank will not accept any applications if a person found with a history of financial fraud, and a daycare center can screen potential employees for a history of sexual and child abuse violations. As they say, one must always be wary of wolves in sheep’s clothing. Nowadays the law requires people who work around children, the elderly, and the disabled, to undergo a background check. It is mainly because these types of people are easy prey to criminals and shady individuals. Companies are held liable by the law, if they fail to perform a sufficient background check. Negligent hiring is one of the most common lawsuits that can easily be avoided.

This also holds true before entering a marriage. Some people prefer to use best background check services to find out about a potential spouse’s past activities. After all, a marriage is a very serious commitment, and love isn’t the only element needed to make it work. After all, without a prenuptial agreement, a spouse is entitled to one half of the other’s assets, in the event of divorce or death. Conmen and scam artists are always afoot, and one must always take the necessary precautions to be able to dodge their nefarious schemes. Marrying people for money may sound like something straight out of a movie, but in reality, criminals know no boundaries. These people will scheme, lie, and cheat, and sometimes even kill to get what they want. A background check may prevent this from happening. As the saying goes, forearmed is forewarned.

Doing a background check is primarily for security purposes. Nowadays a person’s life is deeply rooted to records and databases. Though obtaining these personal records can be quite pricey, but is well worth it. A thorough background check helps prevent any untoward incident from happening in the future.Public records services bring solid proof of a person’s integrity and character. Safety is the main concern and it within your right to know if a person is an undesirable element or not.

Three ways to free up monthly cash flow

Tips from a Toronto Mortgage Broker:  After seeing Gail Vaz Oxlade speak this weekend I've been thinking about ways I could save some money. Let's face it – we can all use a little extra money in our pockets. While getting a raise or finding a higher-paying job may be in the cards for some of us, for the rest it's not as easy. That's why it's important to review your existing expenses every once in a while to uncover new ways to 'trim the fat'. Below are three areas you might want to target first:
1. Car Insurance. As is the case with mortgages, when it comes to renew their auto insurance policy, most car owners opt to blindly renew with their existing insurance provider, rather than shopping around. If your policy is up for renewal in the coming months, you may want to do a bit of shopping yourself, or ask your insurance broker to do the legwork for you. Some policies differ by as much as $600/year or more – and if you switch your home insurance to a packaged policy, the savings can be even greater.
2. Communications Services. Most households spend the bulk of their discretionary income on communications – such as phone, cable, Internet and cell phones. If your communications bill has ballooned to a larger number than you'd like to see, it might be time to give your communications provider a call. It seems every week they're offering a different promotion that could end up saving you significant cash. Just call their customer service line and, if you have more than one service with them, ask if they can walk you through each one to make sure you're getting the best possible deal.
Another option is to re-evaluate your services. If you haven't watched the movie channel in months, or could realistically get away with just using your cell phone instead of both a land line and a cell phone, trim away!
3. Bank charges. If you're the type of person who gravitates towards the nearest ATM – regardless of whether it's your home bank's or not – you may want to spend a bit of time tallying up your bank fees. If you're racking up ATM fee or overdraft charges, it may be time to re-evaluate the type of account you're using. For an additional monthly fee, many banks will increase the amount of times you can use Interac or external bank machines. Depending on how much you're currently spending in bank fees, the higher package may be worth the extra cost.
